Pediatric Section Head, David Biko


Biographical Sketch. David M. Biko, MD is currently the Director of Cardiovascular and Lymphatic Imaging at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a lecturer of Pediatric Radiology for the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology in Silver Spring, Maryland. He holds an academic appointment Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA


Educational background. Dr. Biko graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College in 1998 and medical degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. His residency was at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA from 2005-2009.  In 2010, Dr. Biko completed his fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, in Philadelphia, PA.


Publications and Teaching. Dr. Biko is an author of 49 journal articles, 65 abstracts, and 1 book. He has been very active in the Society of Pediatric Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and American Roentgen Ray Society through annual presentations and serving as the Associate Chair of the Society of Pediatric Radiology Cardiac Imaging Committee, Member of the Society of Pediatric Radiology Thoracic Imaging Committee, and as a reviewer for multiple journals including the American Journal of Roentgenology and Pediatric Radiology.  He is an active educator of fellows and residents and a recipient of 2 teaching awards for excellence in radiology education. He is serving as the Associate Section Chief of Pediatric Radiology and as a lecturer at the American Institute of Radiologic Pathology correlation course.
